Our company
AELRED is a plant biotech company located in the Genopole®-Entreprises incubator building, at Evry (30 km south of Paris). AELRED provides mutagenesis and reverse genetic screening services to academic and private plant biotech and genomic laboratories.
Our technology
Our expertise is based on the PMM (Plant Mutated on its Metabolites) method, application of techniques mastered and developed by the Crop Functional Genomics group of INRA/URGV at Evry (France) (INRA/URGV), whose leader is Dr. Abdelhafid Bendahmane (Triques et al., 2007, Plant J., 51(6):1116-25 ; Triques et al., 2008, BMC Molecular Biology 9:42).
Starting from a mutant collection previously prepared (induced point mutations), the PMM method allows to get in a relatively short period of time (on average one year for an annual crop) a certain amount of plants mutated for a given candidate gene.
These mutations can be used to either validate the function of the targeted gene, or provide an allelic variant of the gene showing an agronomical interest. After confirmation of the effect of the mutation, these genes can potentially be patented and can be introduced quickly and without any problem into a conventional breeding program, thanks to the non-transgenic feature of the technology.
Our offering
In close collaboration with INRA/URGV at Evry, which developed a recognized expertise on this technology, AELRED offers a mutagenesis and reverse genetic screening service, at a competitive cost.
AELRED owns a license on patent and know-how from INRA and GENOPLANTE-VALOR to use this technology. |
